School Day
Our school is open from 8.40am to 3.10pm Monday - Friday (32.5hr a week).
Wraparound care is provided on site by an external provider from 7.45am - 6pm (for details click here).
Children should arrive at school for an 8.40am start. Teaching staff will be present at the gates to collect and guide the children into school. The classroom doors will be open and the children will enter school. There is always a member of staff available at the gate, who you can pass brief messages to, but if you need to speak to the class teacher at length please either ring to make an appointment. Or use the class email to make contact and we will get back to you the same day if possible. Registration will be at 8.50 a.m prompt and for security reasons, the access gates will be shut at this time. Children arriving after this time should enter through the main office door and will be marked in as late.
During the mid-morning break the children are supervised by classroom staff. Children in the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fruit daily, supplied and paid for by a Government initiative. Key Stage 2 children are only allowed to bring in fruit or an alternative healthy snack for breaktime. We are a healthy school and want to show children what this means.
In the event of bad weather at playtime the children remain in their classroom and again are supervised. An assortment of board games, jigsaws and toys are available at this time. Milk is provided to those who have booked and paid for it in advance.
At the end of school, children will be collected from their classrooms by school staff and brought to you at the gates they came in. Y6 pupils (only) are allowed to walk home by themselves, if parents have given permission. If collection arrangements are different from usual, we politely ask parents to inform their child’s class teacher or contact the school office.
If children are absent from school for any reason, please call the office and let us know as soon as possible so that we know that they are safe. If we do not know the reason for an absence, it will be marked as unauthorised and could mean school staff need to come to the house to do a safety check. If your child is not table to take part in PE or swimming, then a note to the teacher should be provided please.
